U.S.S. Enterprise.
Federation starship, Constitution class, Starfleet registry number
NCC-1701. The Enterprise was launched in 2245 under the command of Captain Robert April.
Captain Christopher Pike commanded the ship from 2250 until 2263. In 2264 Captain James
Kirk assumed command on a five-year mission of space exploration. The Enterprise was
arguably the most important starship in the history of space exploration. In
2269 the
Enterprise underwent a minor refit layover in which the ship's bridge received a
secondary exit located just to the left of the main viewscreen. At that time Ensign
Chekov left the ship and Lieutenants Arex and M'Ress came aboard.
Near the end of the
ship's five-year mission, the Enterprise left normal space and entered an alternate
dimension on two occasions. On stardate 5267.2 the Enterprise and the
Klingon battle cruiser Klothos inadvertantly entered Elysia
via the Delta Triangle region of space and then on stardate 6770.3 the ship
was drawn through a star into an antimatter universe.
On stardate 1254.4 the vessel ventured to the center of the galaxy on a mission to
investigate the creation of new matter. On stardate 3183.3, passage of the
vessel through a gaseous cloud energy field caused the ship's computer systems to experience
aberrant behavior including the committing of several practical jokes.
